Why children should complete the kindergarten (3rd Primary) year

October 30th 2021

Did your neighbors say how important it is to be in a Public School for Kindergarten? That your child will get selected for TAG only then. And that paves a path for high school honors math/science, and eventually college. Why would anyone invest thousands of dollars in tuition when you can get free education? But did they also mention how important it is for a child in Middle school/High School/College to require organization, independence, leadership, and critical thinking?

Montessori Method is known for its 3-year cycle of learning. A Montessori classroom will not only equip your child with much-needed education, but it is also the right environment for her/him to obtain their soft skills.

Year 1

  • Children learn to transition to the new classroom
  • Learn to be independent and confident
  • Lookup to older children and emulate them
  • Get introduced to a lot of concrete/hands-on materials.

Year 2

  • Improve in being more independent.
  • Pushing their abilities to learn complex concepts from concrete materials.
  • Lay a strong foundation and have a better understanding of basics, rather than just memorizing.
  • Passage to abstract calculation.
  • Shows empathy, kindness, and starts to be helpful to younger children
  • Looking forward to being the oldest in the classroom.

Year 3

  • Proud to be the oldest in the classroom
  • Shows more emotional intelligence, self-confidence, and independence.
  • Ready to give lessons to other students, which improves their skills and hones in on their leadership abilities.
  • Abstract level of learning.

Some of the advantages of being in a 3- year cycle of learning is:

  1. Love of learning.
  2. Able to learn and move at their own pace. In a traditional classroom, the child must wait for others to catch up.
  3. Mixed-age group. Older children mentor younger children.
  4. Same teacher for three years. The teacher knows how to guide your child and help them progress.
  5. To be part of a community and Peace education.
  6. 3rd-year students get an opportunity to explore further the world of mathematics, science, social studies, and language. These are the fundamentals of STEM programs in Elementary.
  7. All that groundwork that a child laid in the first two years comes together in the third year and becomes a permanent part of a child’s understanding.
  8. No matter how your child learns best, The Montessori method can fulfill that.
  9. Students develop a sense of purpose and intrinsic motivation.
  10. Students become more curious, engaged, and enthusiastic learners.

It is crucial that a child feels self-confident, organized, responsible, kind and shows intrinsic motivation no matter what age. These qualities help them to be successful in the long term, which will be more evident in their 3rd year. A Montessori guide strives to provide every opportunity for every child to learn and thrive without limits. That is why a Montessori teacher is sad to see a child leave before completing their 3rd year. We parents want to give the whole world to our children. A Montessori 3 – year cycle will make that possible.
