Did your neighbors say how important it is to be in a Public School for Kindergarten? That your child will get selected for TAG only then. And that paves a path for high school honors math/science, and eventually college. Why would anyone invest thousands of dollars in tuition when you can get free education? But did they also mention how important it is for a child in Middle school/High School/College to require organization, independence, leadership, and critical thinking?
Montessori Method is known for its 3-year cycle of learning. A Montessori classroom will not only equip your child with much-needed education, but it is also the right environment for her/him to obtain their soft skills.
Year 1
- Children learn to transition to the new classroom
- Learn to be independent and confident
- Lookup to older children and emulate them
- Get introduced to a lot of concrete/hands-on materials.
Year 2
- Improve in being more independent.
- Pushing their abilities to learn complex concepts from concrete materials.
- Lay a strong foundation and have a better understanding of basics, rather than just memorizing.
- Passage to abstract calculation.
- Shows empathy, kindness, and starts to be helpful to younger children
- Looking forward to being the oldest in the classroom.
Year 3
- Proud to be the oldest in the classroom
- Shows more emotional intelligence, self-confidence, and independence.
- Ready to give lessons to other students, which improves their skills and hones in on their leadership abilities.
- Abstract level of learning.
Some of the advantages of being in a 3- year cycle of learning is:
- Love of learning.
- Able to learn and move at their own pace. In a traditional classroom, the child must wait for others to catch up.
- Mixed-age group. Older children mentor younger children.
- Same teacher for three years. The teacher knows how to guide your child and help them progress.
- To be part of a community and Peace education.
- 3rd-year students get an opportunity to explore further the world of mathematics, science, social studies, and language. These are the fundamentals of STEM programs in Elementary.
- All that groundwork that a child laid in the first two years comes together in the third year and becomes a permanent part of a child’s understanding.
- No matter how your child learns best, The Montessori method can fulfill that.
- Students develop a sense of purpose and intrinsic motivation.
- Students become more curious, engaged, and enthusiastic learners.
It is crucial that a child feels self-confident, organized, responsible, kind and shows intrinsic motivation no matter what age. These qualities help them to be successful in the long term, which will be more evident in their 3rd year. A Montessori guide strives to provide every opportunity for every child to learn and thrive without limits. That is why a Montessori teacher is sad to see a child leave before completing their 3rd year. We parents want to give the whole world to our children. A Montessori 3 – year cycle will make that possible.
