Dr. Maria Montessori was not only known for her educational methods, but she was also an advocate for women\u2019s rights and peace. After surviving two world wars and studying children for several years, Montessori understood the importance of peace and cosmic education for children. Her Peacemaker curriculum develops a global sense of peace and harmony in children.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cosmic education is the soul of Montessori education. It is an overall approach to education that involves helping students understand the world around them and their place in this world. They develop an awareness that everything in the universe is connected and interdependent, that each and everyone\u2019s contribution is vital.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Montessori classroom activities revolve around cosmic education. The activities support the integrity of each student, their relationship with each other, to the community, culture, and environment guides them to become more of an individual and more a part of the world. Once they understand this, they start to create a sense of responsibility, which will help them improve themselves and eventually improve the world around them.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In our infant, toddler, and primary environment Cosmic Education is introduced through experiences with nature and sensorial learning materials. These materials introduce the children to the world around them and hone their five senses. These experiences help the child become independent and confident with themselves, within their community, and the world as a whole.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Elementary years children begin to connect their experiences that they learned and start asking themselves-\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00b7 Who am I?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7 What is my nature as a living creature?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7 Is there a purpose to live and, if so, what is it?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00b7 What is my role in the world?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Maria Montessori believed that Cosmic education prepared a child to be emotionally intelligent, independent, and socially responsible. They end up having a better understanding of their place in their community and will help them become better citizens of this world. With the holiday season upon us, engage your child in activities that will help them see how they can make a difference in their community, which in turn will empower your child to be a voice for humankind.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
