Montessori Moments

December Newsletter 2022

Dear Parents,

’Tis the season, celebrations are in full swing this holiday! Children are in the process of creating decorations for their classes. As Montessorians, we strongly believe that involving children in preparing for a celebration allows them to take ownership for their work and as a result, it builds confidence, self-esteem and self-discipline. The result of letting children participate in celebrations also helps them learn about their traditions and cultural beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation, which can have a huge impact on your child’s identity. This is a very heartfelt, proud experience for the parents to witness. Somehow, not only for the holidays but throughout the year, the "joy" that we give others is the "joy" that comes back to us. So, rejoice in your family traditions and have a Happy Holiday season and a happy, healthy, and a prosperous New Year filled with lots of love!

Warm Wishes,

CTM

Special Classroom Activities

This month children will be doing many projects related to the Holiday Season. They include Hannukah, Kwanza, Christmas, and many other holidays around the world. To prepare the children for the celebration, we ask that you as a family share your traditions with them so that they can share their part and add on to our CTM holiday celebration. Children are very excited to share these moments with their peers and our CTM family. Along with the children, we would like parents to take part and share their traditions this holiday season. Please let your child’s teacher know if your family celebrates a special holiday during this season and would like to come do a presentation for our students.

Holiday Spirit Days

This is the season to take a step back and relax. Our children are constantly working hard to achieve their goals, academically and developmentally. A big part of a child is to grow socially, as our CTM tradition, we would like our children to explore their creativity during the Holiday Spirit Days. This tradition allows the children to feel closer to one another and create a sense of camaraderie and community. This will be a prefect way to end the year and welcome the new year with a positive outlook. Please refer to the calendar for more information.

Gift of Giving

As we are thankful for all that we have, we want to do our part and help the people in need. This holiday season we would like to invite the families to contribute towards the Fulton County food pantry with canned goods and hygiene packs for Shelters. Canned goods options can be any soup can, vegetable can or a fruit can. The individual hygiene pack must include travel size deodorant, shampoo and body wash/soap packed in a sandwich size zip lock bag.

This is not mandatory, just was way to teach children sharing and giving to people in need.

Office Notes

Please refrain from holding lengthy conversations with your child's teacher during drop off and pick up times. Our teachers must concentrate and supervise the children since these are busy times of the day. If you would like to speak to your child's teacher, please send them a message through Procare. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Student pick-up ChangesIf you would like to change your child's pick-up timings, we are happy to accommodate your needs. To help us with staffing, the school requires a month's notice. CTM will not return or refund any tuition if pick-up changes are requested without a month's notice.

Shoes: No light-up shoes, please. They distract your child and other children in the class. Students can wear running or tennis shoes to school.

Snack and Lunch: Please refrain from sending cookies/candy/chocolate/chocolate milk for lunch or snacks with your child.

Going Out of Town: As the holidays are approaching, please be sure to let us know if you will be out of town by filling out an Out of Town form and sending a message through Procare, so we can staff accordingly.

Late Pick Up: We will be charging for late pick ups. Please be sure to pick up your child by the designated time you have signed up for (12 pm, 3 pm, or 5:30 pm).

Illnesses and Sick Policy: Please keep your children home when they are sick!! If children have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea on a given day, they MUST STAY HOME THE NEXT DAY. They have to be 24 hours free of any of these symptoms (without medication) before they can return to school. We recommend that symptoms be treated with good nutrition and supplements to boost their immune system as well as enough sleep to build their strength. Returning to good health sometimes requires more time. Please keep your children home if their noses are continuously running, they're coughing and showing signs of being tired and out of sorts. Thank you so much!

Special thanks to:

All the parents who attended the Thanksgiving Feast and concert. We hope you enjoyed it!

All the parents who volunteered to bring in food for the feast.

All the staff who continuously work for the benefit of the children at CTM.

All of our parents and children who continue to support CTM.
